This is a quick and easy upcycle for you! I had a small extension on my hose outdoors and I noticed something had punctured it. While I could have tried to fix it, that would only have been a temporary fix. So immediately my brain was thinking how can I upcycle this!? ( If you’re unfamiliar with the term upcyling, check out this post here.)

It’s summer here in the northern hemisphere and a summer wreath would be the perfect upcycle for this hose!

Start by wrapping your hose into a circle. I personally like how the hose ends stick out on the sides, that way people can know what it’s really made from. Once you find the size circle you like tie a knot to the back. Making sure to not cut off your string yet, you’ll need that to wrap it around later.

Before we wrap the string around. The next step is to decide where to add your flowers. I used dried flowers because I know in time they will hold up well. Eucalyptus and craspedia were the types of dried flowers I used (but of course use whatever you like or have on hand.)  Upcycling is all about using what you already have, so no more new resources are being used.

Tuck your flower stems into the hose a bit. Once you have a look you like now we will wrap the string around the base of the hose.   I wrapped about 2 inches across to insure my flowers would stay in place.

If you feel like you want to add more flowers after the string is on, you can most likely just slide the stem under the string. Secure a small knot in the back so its not visible.

That’s it! I told you it was easy. Now I have a new summer wreath to display. Honestly I’ll probably keep this up year around though.

You can even change up the look by how you place it. For instance do you like the flowers at the bottom or to the side?

It’s possible with time it came become a little saggy. If that happens just weave an old wire hanger around the back of the hose to give it a little more shape.

Here are some other quick ideas for homemade upcycled wreaths I have made in the past as well:

Metals with toilet paper wrappings
Dried flowers and oranges
Wine corks on cardboard
Happy Upcyling!
