As the new year starts you might be thinking of upgrading your phone. I personally tend to hold onto my phones for awhile to get the most use out of them. Typically I try to upgrade once every 3 years. If you tend to keep them longer it’s important to remember that brands like Apple will stop pushing updates to older models. (Which is their way for you to buy more).
This post isn’t actually about getting a new phone or the upgrades of technology though. It’s actually about the box the phone comes in. I’m a millennial and there is often this joke that millennials can’t get rid of their phone boxes. Why can’t we get rid of them?? I’m not sure! But I think maybe it’s more of a correlation of how much we are spending on these phones. If the phone is expensive then that puts the box are being expensive too?? I’m not going to get too deep into that thought. You’ll often hear millennials say ‘it’s a good sturdy box!’. I 100% agree with that.
I have saved just about all my phones boxes over the years. I enjoy making the most simple upcycle out of them. A spice shelf! All you need to do is pile various sizes of boxes on top of one another to form a tiered look. Then place your spices on the levels. This helps organize your spice cabinet so you can actually see everything you have. With the boxes being very sturdy you can even try organizing heavier items like cans.
You can also leave the boxes open for a catch all holder. Perfect for those little ketchup and soy sauce packs we all eventually accumulate.
Even try leaving the plastic insert inside the box. It provides an already build in way to help organize little items.
My theory is if I see the items, I’m more likely to actually use them!
An easy upcycle that will take you less than 5 minutes to do. Maybe I’ve convinced you to keep those boxes now?? Now time to make dinner and start using those spices.
